Vegetarian Diet Grocery List: 20 Foods To Include



I know making good healthy choices as a vegetarian can be challenging. In North America, meat and poultry is the center of most meals! Substituting these out of meals can indeed be difficult. To make matters worse, most groceries do not offer many vegetarian products that are void of soy.

So without red meat, chicken, fish and soy, what are you left with? Luckily there is still plant based protein rich foods like legumes and hemp that can be a great substitute. Below you will find a list of 2o Vegetarian Friendly Foods that you should include on your grocery list! So get shopping and happy eating!

  1. Organic or Free range eggs
  2. EAAs (Essential Amino acids like Bragg’s Liquid Aminos)
  3. Free Run Egg whites
  4. Almond/ Cashew/ Coconut / Hemp or Rice milk (make sure to rotate these!!!)
  5. Sea veggies like sea weed and Spirulina
  6. Kimchi or Sauerkraut (great way to get in your Probiotics!)
  7. Chickpeas
  8. Black/ white/ kidney beans
  9. Sprouts: Broccoli, Alfalfa, Pea Shoot, Sunflower, Radish
  10. Kale/ Spinach/ Leafy Greens/ collard greens
  11. Squash
  12. Hemp Hearts
  13. Chia Seeds
  14. Raw nuts and Seeds
  15. Broccoli or cauliflower
  16. Quinoa
  17. Whole grain brown or wild rice
  18. Zucchini and eggplant
  19. Vegan, Pea or Rice Based protein supplement
  20. Sweet potatoes or Yams
